Kalsetron-MD

Composition

Ondansetron Orally Disintegrating Tablets I.P. 4 mg

Description

Kalsetron-MD contains Ondansetron, a selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist used to prevent nausea and vomiting. It is formulated as an orally disintegrating tablet (MD), which dissolves quickly in the mouth without the need for water—making it convenient for patients who have difficulty swallowing.

Mechanism of Action

Ondansetron works by blocking serotonin (5-HT3) receptors in:

  • The gastrointestinal tract
  • The central nervous system (chemoreceptor trigger zone)

This prevents the vomiting reflex triggered by chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery.

Uses

  • Prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV)
  • Prevention of post-operative nausea and vomiting (PONV)
  • Management of radiation-induced nausea
  • General antiemetic use

Dosage & Administration

  • As directed by the physician
  • Tablet should be placed on the tongue and allowed to dissolve
  • No water required
