Mechanism of Action (MOA)
Omeprazole
- Omeprazole is a Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI).
- It blocks the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme (proton pump) in stomach parietal cells.
- This significantly reduces gastric acid production.
- Helps heal ulcers and prevents acid reflux-related damage to the esophagus.
