MOA

1. Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis
2. Binds to D-Ala-D-Ala terminus
3. Prevents peptidoglycan formation
4. Bactericidal against gram-positive bacteria
5. Effective against MRSA
6. Inhibits cell wall cross-linking
7. Leads to bacterial cell death

1. Severe gram-positive infections
2. MRSA infections
3. Septicemia
4. Endocarditis
5. Pneumonia
6. Bone & joint infections
7. Skin & soft tissue infections

1. Nephrotoxicity
2. Ototoxicity
3. Red man syndrome
4. Fever

Precautions

1. Monitor kidney function
2. Infuse slowly (avoid Red man syndrome)
3. Monitor drug levels
