Description

Kalsetron Syrup contains Ondansetron, a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist used to prevent and control nausea and vomiting.
This syrup is specially designed for paediatric use, making it easy to administer with accurate dosing.


Mechanism of Action

Ondansetron blocks serotonin (5-HT3) receptors in:

  • The gastrointestinal tract
  • The chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) in the brain

This prevents the activation of the vomiting reflex.


Uses

  • Paediatric nausea & vomiting
  • Gastroenteritis-related vomiting
  • Post-operative nausea and vomiting (PONV)
  • Chemotherapy/radiation-induced nausea

Dosage & Administration

Side Effects

Common:

  • Headache
  • Constipation
  • Dizziness

Less common:

  • Diarrhea
  • Fatigue

Rare:

  • QT prolongation (heart rhythm disturbance)

  • Monitor if used with drugs affecting QT interval
