Description:
Kefuyes-CV is a combination antibiotic containing cefuroxime axetil and potassium clavulanate. It is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections, especially those caused by beta-lactamase producing organisms. The addition of clavulanate enhances the effectiveness of cefuroxime by preventing antibiotic resistance.
Mechanism of Action:
- Cefuroxime Axetil inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), leading to bacterial cell death (bactericidal action).
- Potassium Clavulanate is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that prevents the breakdown of cefuroxime by bacterial enzymes.
- This combination ensures enhanced antibacterial activity against resistant strains.
