🧬 Composition

• Ceftriaxone Sodium equivalent to Ceftriaxone 500 mg

⚙️ Mechanism of Action

• 3rd generation cephalosporin antibiotic
• Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis
• Bactericidal action against Gram +ve & Gram -ve organisms
• Highly stable against beta-lactamases

• Respiratory tract infections
• Typhoid fever
• Urinary tract infections
• Septicemia
• Meningitis
• Gonorrhea
• Intra-abdominal infections

📈 Pharmacokinetics

• Long half-life (~6–8 hrs) → once/twice daily dosing
• Excellent tissue penetration (CSF included)
• Dual elimination (renal + biliary)

⚠️ Side Effects

• Injection site pain
• Diarrhea
• Rash
• Biliary sludging (rare)

🚫 Precautions

• Avoid in neonates (risk of kernicterus)
• Check for beta-lactam allergy
• Use cautiously in liver/kidney impairment
