Product Description

Povidone Iodine Ointment USP is a broad-spectrum topical antiseptic used for the prevention and treatment of infections in minor cuts, wounds, burns, and skin ulcers. It contains Povidone Iodine, which slowly releases iodine to kill bacteria, fungi, viruses, and protozoa.

The ointment base is water-soluble, allowing easy application and removal. It is widely used in hospitals, clinics, and home first-aid kits for effective wound care.

Composition

• Povidone Iodine USP – 5% w/w
  (Equivalent to available iodine approx. 0.5% w/w)

• Water-soluble ointment base – q.s.

• Minor cuts and wounds

• Burns and scalds

• Pre- and post-surgical wound care

• Ulcers and bed sores

How It Works

Povidone iodine releases free iodine slowly, which penetrates microbial cells and disrupts protein and nucleic acid structure, leading to rapid microbial death.

Precautions

• For external use only
