0.9% Sodim Chloride NS - Easy port

Normal Saline (NS) 0.9% is a sterile, non-pyrogenic, isotonic solution of Sodium Chloride in Water for Injection. It contains 0.9% w/v Sodium Chloride, making it compatible with body fluids. It is administered intravenously for fluid and electrolyte replenishment.

It is one of the most commonly used IV fluids in hospitals, nursing homes, emergency care, and surgical procedures.

• Treatment of dehydration

• Fluid replacement in vomiting and diarrhea

• Electrolyte imbalance correction

• Shock management

• During and after surgery

• Diluent for injectable medications

• Blood transfusion compatibility (line flushing)

• Wound irrigation (external use sterile solution)

⚠️ Side Effects

Generally safe when used properly, but may cause:

• Fluid overload

• Swelling (edema)

• High sodium levels (Hypernatremia)

• Increased blood pressure

• Breathlessness in cardiac patients

• Injection site irritation

Serious side effects usually occur only in patients with kidney, heart, or liver problems.

• Use cautiously in heart failure patients

• Monitor in kidney disease

• Avoid excessive infusion in elderly patients

• Check electrolyte levels during prolonged use

• Use only if solution is clear and container is intact

• Do not use if seal is broken
